The annual Mystic May Day celebration has been planned for Saturday, May 5th
in Historic Downtown Mystic. The festivities will begin with the annual
geranium sale by Pequot Plant Farm and will take place in front of Bank
Square Books from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Twenty five percent of the
proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Annual Mystic May Day
Scholarship Fund to benefit a student from both Stonington and Fitch Senior
High School. Participating merchants in Historic Downtown Mystic will also
be donating 5% of their sales to the scholarship fund.
Beginning at 11:30 a.m., there will be traditional May Pole and folk dances
in the Mystic River Park, performed by the Mystic Garland Dancers. The Noank
& Mystic Community Band will play their time-honored music from 12:30 p.m.
to 1:30 p.m. in the Mystic River Park; from 2:00-3:30pm, The Cartells Duo
will perform.
The Children's Parade begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Mystic Arts Center and
continues along Main Street to the Mystic River Park. There will not be a
bed race this year, but beds are encouraged to be part of the parade.
After the parade, there will be activities in the park. Activities include a
giant chess set, belly dancing, face painting, children's crafts, and much
more! There will be music, dancing, and fun activities to keep children
young and old entertained.
There will be food from Sea Swirl, Mystic Chips and Nancy & Shawn from Q-105
will be broadcasting live all day!!!
