MAY IS & HISTORY MATTERS MONTH IN THE LAST GREEN VALLEY

May is Local History Month in the Last Green Valley and the towns, museums and historical societies encourage you to do more than just read about the events that shaped the region. You are invited to experience what life was like in days gone by – how meals were prepared, fires fought, games played and wars waged. They want you to see how farms were worked, railroads ran, thread was spun and cloth was woven. As you experience the wonderful events taking place throughout the Last Green Valley all month long, you will begin to understand that History Matters. This weekend you can attend a shadow puppet-making workshop at the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry in Storrs, attend a colonial tea party at the Hale Homestead in Coventry or visit the open house at the Agricultural Museum on the Woodstock Fairgrounds.
